ANCHORAGE (AP) A jury has found an Anchorage man guilty of intentionally killing his girlfriend.
Edward Soeth, 39, was convicted Monday of first-degree murder in the death of 44-year-old Cynthia Maughs.
Soeth was charged with first degree murder but argued for a lesser conviction like manslaughter, saying he didn't mean to kill Maughs.
Maughs was Soeth's girlfriend for about 10 years when he strangled her last July.
At trial the defense argued Maughs nagged Soeth and he was depressed and suicidal when he killed her in a fit of rage.
But the jury rejected that argument.
Soeth faces up to 99 years in prison and will be sentenced in September.
