"It's times like this when I just really love this job," said Soldotna Mayor Dave Carey as he gave copies of an official proclamation honoring the 3A/4A Division State Championship Cheerleading squad from SoHi. In the proclamation Carey pointed out that the Cheerleading squad has participated in many community service projects such as spring clean up, fundraising for children in need and working with local elementary schools in addition to achieving the top award for their division at the state cheerleading competition.

Squad member Emma Seggerman commented, "Cheerleading is a lot of hard work, I guess it looks easy to a lot of folks, but we really have to train for it. Our coach does a lot for us in making the routines so that we can be there to support our teams and keep people pumped about our school."

Coach Jennifer Rosin added, "It takes a lot of commitment and dedication for a team to reach a championship level."

The 12-member squad included Jamie Grubb, Sami Eisenman, Jessie Azzara, Kelsey Cusack, Kayla Mullican, Gina Ciufo, Tracy Pitts, Jacquelyn Cowan, Katie Murphy, Emily Azzara, Emma Seggerman and Brittney Parsons. Jessica Sherman assisted Head coach Jennifer Rosin.
