Connecting daily lives with the Stations of the Cross

For the fifth year, members of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Soldotna made a 3-mile pilgrimage in honor of Good Friday and the Easter celebration. The march marked the "Stations of the Cross" on a 3-mile circuit that went from the church, down Binkley to Wilson, up Kobuk to Marydale and back the Spur Highway. The circuit according to Father Frank Reitter not only recalled the stations of the cross that Jesus carried, but made connections of that walk to our daily lives that everyone could relate to.

"Janet Shapely did a great job organizing the march and making it meaningful. One very inspiring moment came when one of the children wanted to have a turn carrying the cross, but realized it was too heavy for him alone, but he joined with all the other children and together they were able to carry it a good long way. It was a tremendous lesson in sharing our load," said Father Frank.
