Cook Inlet Academy recently completed its Playground Extravaganza, a fund-raising carnival night and raffle that raised more than $13,000 for our new playground equipment. The whole evening was lots of fun and a good time was had by all.
The event would not have been possible without the participation of many different people. We would like to thanks those who contributed cash or prizes to our raffle, Accordia of Alaska Insurance, Affinity Salon, Alaska Center of Natural Medicine, Alaska Coastal Marine, Beemun's, Car Wash Express, Dr. Curt Wisnewski, Doors & Windows, Fenton Bros., High Adventure Air, Peninsula Clarion, Radio Shack, Raven's Roost, Refrigeration and Food Equipment Inc., Dr. Robert Bauder, Spenard Builders Supply, The Fitness Place, Trustworthy Hardware and Wounded Bear Kennel.
Many individuals and groups also helped. Many families donated baked goods. Thanks to all who helped in this important area. We also want to thank the staff and secondary students at CIA for their set-up and tearing down-cleanup of the various booths. Thanks are also extended to Judy Kjeldson, Alyse Bell, Ellie Nelson, Kirsten Moore, Nathan Byrd, Lisa Berkhart, Jenni Chumley, Becky Dwinell, Janet Cooper, Blake Gabriel, Laurel Kytonen, Cheryl Beeson, Angie Lyons, Amy O'Dell, Mary White, Rhonda Orth, Elaine Agosti, Karrie Yarnes, Steven Burger, Mike Kytonen, Nathan Spence, Shelli Furlong, Roger Phillips, Joel Nelson, Mark Fowler, Jan Fenton, Ray Gross, Rica Phillips, DeeDee Fowler and the CIA "poster makers."
Special thanks go to Kerri Nelson for organizing, hosting and being the master of ceremonies for the night.
Finally, thanks to all in the community who bought raffle tickets, because of your generosity, our students can look forward to playing on new playground equipment.
