Student to attend program

Iver Kohler, a Soldotna High School student, will travel to Washington, D.C., June 23 to 30 to participate in the debut of Presidential Classroom's Media and Democracy Program. He will join students from across the country and abroad to take part in seminars presented by leaders representing each branch of government, the military, media and lobbying organizations. Students are scheduled for a private tour of the White House and appointments with their senators' and representatives' offices.

Kenai student named to dean's list

Shevaun Marie English of Kenai was named to the Southern Oregon University dean's list for the winter quarter. Undergraduate students taking 12 or more graded credits are eligible for the list.

Nursing student receives nomination

Russelle Wilson has been nominated to receive the All-American Scholar Collegiate Award and a National Collegiate Nursing Award. She also is eligible to compete for a $1,000 scholarship from the $50,000 awarded this year.

Wilson was nominated in recognition of her work and academic achievements during her college career at the University of Alaska Anchorage.

To honor her achievements, the United States Achievement Academy will publish her biography in the All-American Scholar Collegiate Directory, a publication honoring college students nationwide.

She is the daughter of Connie and Russell Wilson Sr. of Kenai.
