FAIRBANKS (AP) A Nenana man has agreed to a plea deal in a sexual abuse case involving two daughters.

Jonathan Kukes, 50, was accused of sexually abusing his daughters throughout the 1990s. In Fairbanks Superior Court Tuesday, he pleaded no contest to two felony sexual abuse charges as a substitute for an indictment that originally included eight felony sexual charges.

Kukes faces a maximum of 10 years in prison.

The plea deal was agreed to moments before Kukes' jury trial was set to start on the original charges.

His sentencing was set for July 31.

Kukes has been in custody since his arrest in December after Alaska State Troopers received an anonymous call about the allegations.
