Mrs. Klaben's fourth-grade class will take a field trip to the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge from 8:10 to 11 a.m. Friday.
The last SIGS event of the year also will be Friday. Students will watch Walt Disney's "Treasure Planet" in the school gym, with popcorn and a drink provided and cotton candy and candy bars available for $1 each. Mrs. Furlong's fifth-grade class will take a field trip to the Swanson River-Kelly Peterson Lake area on Tuesday and May 6,
First-graders are editing and finalizing their stories, then will start the Keep Trying unit. There will be no centers Friday.
The pictures that were sent home this week have not been paid for. Families who would like to keep any portion of their picture packets should send in money for that portion. Those who don't want the pictures should return the whole packet to the school. The class that returns 100 percent of its picture packets will receive an ice cream party.
The sixth-grade class attended a training session at the Kenai River Center to prepare for the annual Salmon Celebration they will host Tuesday at Johnson Lake Campground. Schools from around the district will attend the event, and the sixth-graders will provide coaching, teaching and technical support for other students. Parents of sixth-graders are reminded to send students to school with a packed lunch, drinks and snacks and to plan to pick students up at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday at the school.
