Ms. Jacquline Erion, who is a park ranger with the Alaska State Parks met with all Tustumena Elementary classes last week to deliver boating safety educational curricula. The purpose of this program is aimed at developing responsible boaters and encouraging safe boating practices. It is designed to familiarize students with life jackets and other equipment necessary for safe boating, develop an appreciation for cold water and the hazards it presents, and reduce deaths, accidents and injury among non-commercial boaters.
Tustumena Quest students will host a slide show for intermediate classes featuring the continent of Antarctica today. The program will be presented by Jennifer Tabor from Soldotna Middle School and is open to the public. The slide show will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the multi-purpose room beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Tustumena band students in grades five and six will participate in the Parade of Bands concert at Skyview High School on Monday. Central peninsula elementary school band students will be combined to perform selected songs, as will have an opportunity to join the high school band at the conclusion of the program. The concert begins at 7 p.m.
Tustumena will host a talent show for students in grade four through six at 2 p.m. May 12 in the gym. Parent volunteers in these classes will be honored immediately following the program.
