FAIRBANKS (AP) -- A Fairbanks man has pleaded no contest to attempted sexual abuse of a minor and faces a maximum of 13 years in prison.
Peter Edwin, 34, was indicted in February on one count of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor and two second-degree sex abuse counts.
Edwin entered a no-contest plea to a reduced charge of first-degree attempted sexual abuse Tuesday in state Superior Court in Fairbanks.
According to the criminal complaint, Edwin assaulted the 11-year-old girl three times last summer. At least two of the attacks occurred at the girl's home.
As part of his plea agreement, Edwin agreed to a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, plus three years for violating probation from a 1995 sexual abuse conviction.
Edwin is being held at the Fairbanks Correctional Center. His sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 1.
