Kids activities sought

The Peninsula Clarion is seeking information on summer programs for kids for its Just Kidding section, including nonprofit or for-profit classes, programs, entertainment, exercise, vacation Bible school, camps and other activities are acceptable. 911 advisory board to meet

The 911 advisory board will meet at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday in Conference Room B at the Kenai Peninsula Borough Building in Soldotna. It is open to the public. Basketball clinics set

NBC Camps will hold the following basketball camps: the Kenai Central High School basketball program will host the coed speed explosion clinic from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday for students in grades seven through 12 in the school gym; and Cook Inlet Academy will host a complete skills clinic from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday from grades one through six at the school gym.

NBC Camps staff will provide supervision and instruction at the clinics. Registration is open to the community the evening of the clinics. Preregistration is preferred by picking up a form at most schools or calling (907) 334-9625. The cost of admission is $49 per person and a free T-shirt is included. A portion of the proceeds will go to support the KCHS and Cook Inlet Academy basketball programs.

Sears carnival fundraiser set to entertain

Sears Elementary will host a carnival from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the school. Games and prizes are some of the planned activities.

KPC seeks council reps

Kenai Peninsula College is looking for people to serve on the KPC College Council. The council serves as an advisory board for the college and seeks representatives from all sectors of the peninsula.

Kenai shorebird festival takes wing

A shorebird festival will be held May 10 and 13. Classroom discussions and field birding expeditions are planned. Todd Eskelin and Toby Burke from the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, Ken Tarbox and Ken Marlow will lead workshops. For more information, to register or to request a brochure, call 260-5449.

KPBSD programs committee to meet

The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District will hold a federal programs advisory committee meeting from 9 to 11:30 a.m. May 11 at the Aspen Hotel in Soldotna. The topics will be district achievement data, district behavioral data, professional development and parent involvement. It is open to the public.
