Siren test planned

The Kenai Peninsula Borough Office of Emergency Management will conduct the monthly alert siren test today at noon. The test consists of the attack and alert tones. This test is conducted on the first Thursday of each month. For more information, call 262-4910 or (800) 478-4441, ext. 281.

Carmichael to give talk on Arctic Winter Games

Soldotna Parks and Recreation Director Andrew Carmichael will give a presentation on the 2002 Arctic Winter Games, held last month in Greenland and Canada. Carmichael's remarks will come during a luncheon Friday at noon at the Kenai Merit Inn. Following Carmichael's presentation, Jack Brown of the Resource Development Council will provide an update on the status of the borough's 2006 AWG bid document. For more information, call 262-6355.

Soccer registration deadline approaching

The Boys and Girls Club of the Kenai Peninsula is taking registration for the summer soccer season, which begins June 6 and runs through July 27, for children ages 4 through 18. Registration can be done in person at the Kenai Clubhouse from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., or by fax at 283-8190. Deadline for registration is Friday. For more information, call 283-2682.

Schools rally planned

A rally in support of schools will be held Saturday from noon until 2 p.m. at Soldotna High School. The rally will include music, food, guest speakers and a community walk. For more information, call Laura at 262-7740.

Historical society to meet

Kari Mohn and Loretta Mattson of the Kenai Totem Tracers' cemetery publishing committee will speak at Sunday's meeting of the Kenai Historical Society. The Totem Tracers are updating a Kenai Peninsula cemetery publication and are asking for help in identifying grave sites. The meeting will be held at 1 p.m. at the Kenai Community Library, and the public is welcome to attend. For more information, call 283-7700.

Habitat for Humanity plans anniversary party

Central Peninsula Habitat for Humanity will celebrate its 10th birthday with a free community barbecue, to be held Sunday from 4 until 6 p.m. at the Soldotna Catholic Church. For more information, call the Habitat office at 283-7797.

Mediation center planning free seminar

The Center for Mediation and Community Dialogue is sponsoring a free seminar Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Kenai River Center. Boys and Girls Club gearing up for summer

The last day of the Boys and Girls Club's "After School" program will be May 17. The Kenai Clubhouse will be closed from May 18 through June 2. The Summer Clubhouse program begins June 3 at 7:30 a.m. All members are required to preregister before attending. For more information, call 283-2682.

KCHS soccer team plans garage sale

The Kenai Central High School soccer team garage sale will be held May 18 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. in front of Kenai Middle School. Donations may be dropped off at KMS from 4 until 6 p.m. on May 17. For more information, call Kathy at 283-5256 or Carol at 283-3909.

Kenai pool offers swimming lessons

The Kenai pool will be offering summer swimming lessons beginning June 3 and continuing until August 9. There are multiple sessions and times available throughout the summer.
