ANCHORAGE (AP) The Bristol Bay price-fixing lawsuit isn't going to drag on into summer, the judge says.
Jury deliberations will begin May 27, Superior Court Judge Peter A. Michalski decided Thursday. Michalski wrote that in a written order to attorneys as the trial neared the end of its eleventh week.
Originally, the jury was scheduled to get the case about May 6. But the timetable has slipped despite the judge's warnings to the lawyers about overstepping the initial time limits.
The lawsuit accuses processors and importers of conspiring to reduce the prices paid to salmon fishermen. The class-action suit was filed in 1995 on behalf of 4,500 permit holders.
