WASILLA (AP) A Wasilla man died Wednesday night when he was ejected from the car he was driving and it landed on him, according to Alaska State Troopers.
The victim was Robert Barron, 49. A passenger in Barron's Volvo, 39-year-old Jeffrey Gustaveson, was unhurt.
Barron was heading south on Knik-Goose Bay Road at Mile 16 when he lost control of the car about 9:45 p.m., according to troopers.
The car was going very fast, and it flipped several times before coming to rest down a steep embankment. Barron was thrown from the car and was found pinned beneath it.
Gustaveson said both he and Barron were wearing seatbelts.
Alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash, troopers said.
