No need to travel outside or to the Hood to find the popular styles of the Hood. Now for the first time in Alaska, urban style clothing name brands like Joker and Low Rider are available exclusively at the “Y” in Soldotna at the all new Keep-U-Covered urban clothing store thanks to Javier and Raven Esparza of Soldotna. “People have been asking me for the type of style clothes put out by Baby Phat and Roca Wear so they can shop here locally and not spend all that gas money driving to Anchorage, so we opened the store to make these specialty items and urban clothes available right here,” said Javier. “These are the clothes that people our age around here are wearing and it’s really a pain to have to go all the way to Anchorage to get them, so we’re here now to make finding what you want to wear a lot easier,” added Javier’s wife and partner Raven Esparza.

Accessories for the urban look are also available at the new Keep-U-Covered, “We have watches, LED dog tags, belt buckles, and a lot more things coming in all the time,” says Raven. Javier and his family have lived on the Kenai Peninsula for over eleven years and until he became busy doing all the remodeling for their new store Javier was busy working at his family’s restaurant Don Jose’s and on the Slope. “I also use to work at K-Mart when they had their store in Kenai, but the thing is I wear these type of clothes and I got tired of not being able to find them locally too, so now I have a store that has the look that I want and what a lot of people have been waiting to have here locally,” said Javier. Two-year-old Javier Jr. is also part of the family run Keep-U-Covered operation, “He runs, as in runs around the back room, he loves the store,” says Raven. In the future Javier says they plan to feature the popular AK-49 line in their store. Keep-U-Kovered has only been open for a few weeks and is offering store wide grand-opening specials with 15% off everything in the store and 25% off all winter gear. Keep-U-Kovered urban clothing is now open at the “Y” in Soldotna Tuesday -- Saturday 10:00am -- 7:00pm and Sunday Noon -- 4:00pm Stop in and check out the new arrivals and meet Javier, Raven and Javier Junior.
