Big Brother vs. equality

Posted: Friday, May 02, 2008

George Orwell's "1984" novel appears to be a work of fulfilled prophesy in the world of today. Big Brother government is alive and well in America. Who would have ever thought you could get into more trouble for having the wrong thoughts when committing a "hate crime"?

In the Good Book it declares, "that God is not a respecter of persons (Acts 10:34)." In America today, we say all people are equal; some are just a little more equal than others.

In Alaska we attempt to classify some residents as Alaskans, and others residents as Super Alaskans. If you have the better zip code or the privileged bloodlines than you have hit the Alaska jackpot.

The latest news, is that Big Brother has decided that those Alaskans with the correct zip code get to have a subsistence fish wheel on the Kasilof River. Big Brother appears to be attempting to placate his guilty conscience with the latest reparations program to benefit our Super Alaskans. Special subsistence programs and land giveaway programs to our "special citizens" only fuels class warfare and racism.

United we stand, divided we fall. We need to unify the American people. Race-based privileges, subsistence rights, affirmative action, etc, are attempts to bring justice to groups of people. The fruit of these programs fuels inequality, racism and weakens our nation.

All Americans should be treated equal period.
