Dewey, Okla., resident Rosie May Barnard, died Thursday, April 24, 2008, at the Jane Phillips Medical Center. She was 86.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 1, at the First Baptist Church of Dewey. The Rev. Mark Wright officiated. Final rites were accorded Mrs. Barnard beside her late husband in the Robbins Cemetery in Tyro, Kan.
Mrs. Barnard was born Rosie May Lea on Nov. 11, 1921, to Bertha (Long) and Merle Lea in Dewey. She married World War II veteran Emery Burton "Barney" Barnard on March 7, 1946, and they had five children.
"All who knew her were glad to have shared her life," her family said.
Mrs. Barnard was preceded in death by her husband; son, Lonnie Robert Barnard; two brothers; and parents.
She is survived by her children, Joyce Marshall and her husband, Bill, of Aberdeen, S.D., Dennis Barnard and his wife, Linn Plous, of Kenai, Alta McGrew and her husband, Butch, of Chelsea, Okla., and Glenda Gomez of Bartlesville; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters; one brother; and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were made by Walker-Brown Funeral Home in Bartlesville.
