Longtime Alaskan and Seldovia resident Laramie L. Morrison died Thursday, April 24, 2008, as a result of a car accident in Seldovia. He was 28.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in Seldovia. Burial will be in the Seldovia Cemetery.
Mr. Morrison was born July 16, 1979, in Bangor, Maine. He moved to Homer at a young age with his family. He received his education in Homer, being mostly home-schooled. In 2006, he moved to Port Graham for a year and then returned to Seldovia.
He was self-employed as a carpenter and commercial fisherman. He enjoyed fishing, snowboarding, racing his four-wheeler and hiking.
"Laramie was a warm loving person who touched everyone's lives wherever he went. The one thing that was granted to him that he always wanted was a child. He was granted that wish Oct. 19, 2007, when his beautiful baby daughter was born. In the short time he had, he spent loving his daughter, Nevaeh, and his girlfriend, Clara. He died with his wish fulfilled, a happy man," his family said.
Mr. Morrison is survived by his girlfriend, Clara T. Moonin of Seldovia; daughter, Nevaeh M. Morrison of Seldovia; girlfriend's father, George Seville of Seldovia; parents, Deborah E. and Perley J. Morrison of A.C. Point; and grandparents, Marlene Grindle, Wendell Grindle and Iva Morrison, all of Bucksport, Maine.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggets memorial donations be sent to Laramie Morrison Memorial Fund, Account No. 70436928, c/o First National Bank, 3655 Heath St., Homer, AK 99603.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
