ANCHORAGE (AP) -- The body of a man who had been shot in the head was found Wednesday near the Seward Highway, Alaska State Troopers said.

The body was found lying in a turnout near Mile 48, spokesman Greg Wilkinson said. The man was identified as Harold J. Sipary, 44, of Soldotna.

A caller used the call box at Summit Lake Lodge at about 6:30 a.m. to alert troopers in Soldotna. Around the same time, two people driving north on the highway also noticed the body six miles south of the Hope cutoff, and notified troopers in Girdwood.

A pickup truck registered to the victim was spotted by police in Anchorage several hours later. Three men in the truck were being questioned by police.
