Fellowship to meet

The Soldotna-Kenai chapter of the Send the Light Fellowship will gather today from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Kenaitze Head Start building, 120 N. Willow St. in Kenai. The fellowship is a nondenominational outreach team for Native and non-Native people. Bring a finger food or dessert -- and the family. For more information, call Van or Vide Van Velzor at 260-3293.

Dance group to hit the floor tonight

Living Legends, an energetic dance group made up of young people, will perform a cultural celebration of Native American, Polynesian and Latin American dances depicting their ethnic heritage. Lavish authentic costumes and captivating music will add to their performance. The performers are all students at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. The concert will be held in the Renee Henderson Auditorium at Kenai Central High School at 7:30 tonight. Tickets are available from the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center, Peninsula InstaCare and the Kenai Merit Inn in Kenai and The Music Box and River City Books in Soldotna, as well as at the door. Families are encouraged to attend.

Stake conference to be held

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will hold its semi-annual Soldotna Stake Conference on Sunday. The general meeting will be held in the Soldotna High School Auditorium from 10 a.m. until noon, with luncheon to follow. The special speaker will be a visiting general authority from church headquarters.

Bike blessing planned

The Nikiski Nazarene Church will host its annual Circuit Riders Ministries bike blessing Sunday at 10:45 a.m. For more information, call Scott Hamann at 283-4481.

Church changes name

Soldotna First Assembly of God has changed its name to the Peninsula Christian Center. It is still affiliated with the Assemblies of God organization, but church representatives said they felt a change of name would benefit its outreach to the community. Sports clinic, Bible school planned

The First Baptist Church in Soldotna will host a one-day sports clinic June 8 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Activities include volleyball and basketball for ages 10 to 17.

Also planned at the church is a vacation Bible school June 17-21 from 1 to 4 p.m. for grades one through six. The theme is "An Expedition to the Amazon."
