Basketball clinics set

NBC Camps will hold the following basketball camps: the Kenai Central High School basketball program will host the coed speed explosion clinic from 6 to 9 p.m. today for students in grades seven through 12 in the school gym; and Cook Inlet Academy will host a complete skills clinic from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday for grades one through six at the school gym.

NBC Camps staff will provide supervision and instruction at the clinics. Registration is open to the community the evening of the clinics. Preregistration is preferred, and can be done by picking up a form at most schools or calling (907) 334-9625. The cost of admission is $49 per person, which includes a T-shirt. A portion of the proceeds will go to support the KCHS and Cook Inlet Academy basketball programs.

TOPS information available

TOPS No. 189 will have information and brochures available on how to live a healthy lifestyle Thursday and Friday at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center garage sale.

National Day of Prayer services set

The 55th annual National Day of Prayer will be observed Thursday at the following locations: noon at the flagpole outside of the Legislative Affairs Building, 145 Main Street; 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Church of God, 105 Redoubt Ave., Soldotna; 9 a.m. to noon at the Kalifonsky Christian Center, 41342 Kalifornsky Beach Road, Soldotna; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Soldotna Bible Chapel, 300 W. Marydale, Soldotna; and 4 to 7 p.m. at Peninsula Grace Brethren Church, 44175 Kalifornsky Beach Road, Soldotna.

KPC seeks council reps

Kenai Peninsula College is looking for people to serve on the KPC College Council. The council serves as an advisory board for the college and seeks representatives from all sectors of the peninsula. The deadline for applications is Friday. KPBSD programs committee to meet

The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District will hold a federal programs advisory committee meeting from 9 to 11:30 a.m. May 11 at the Aspen Hotel in Soldotna. The topics will be district achievement data, district behavioral data, professional development and parent involvement. It is open to the public. For more information or to register, call 714-8892.

Lacrosse club seeks members

Multicultural competencies to be discussed

The Diversity Action Council of the University of Alaska Campus will host Patricia Arredondo, president of the American Counseling Association. Her topic will be multicultural competencies as part of life skills. She will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday at the college. A reception will follow. The event is free and open to the public.
