The host Soldotna softball team defeated Skyview 26-0 in three innings on Monday in the season opener for both teams.
Soldotna coach Dave Cleveland said his team had 12 hits in 18 at-bats against the Panthers. The Stars also drew 17 walks.
The offensive star for Soldotna was Kaycee Munn, who was 3-for-3 with a walk, single, double, home run and eight RBIs. Briana VinZant and Nikki Hegge combined to pitch a perfect game for the Stars.
Soldotna travels to play Homer at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, while Skyview hosts Kodiak at 1 and 4:15 p.m. Saturday.
Homer baseball defeats Soldotna
The visiting Homer baseball team defeated Soldotna 12-6 on Monday in nonconference action.
The Stars fell to 0-3 overall, while the Mariners improved to 1-0.
SoHi head coach Roger Phillips said the Mariners had the lead the whole game. Mitchel Daugherty got the start for the Stars and pitched 3 2-3 innings, giving up six runs -- five earned. He gave up four hits, six walks and a hit batter while striking out six.
"We had some errors behind him as well," Phillips said.
Mason Kanakis pitched the final 3 1-3 innings. He gave up six earned runs on five hits while striking out five, hitting one and walking one.
On offense, Josiah Covey led the Stars with three hits and two stolen bases. Daugherty had a hit and a stolen base, while Max Hegge was 2-for-4.
The Stars host Palmer in a doubleheader starting at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
