The Homer High School girls soccer team edged Wasilla Thursday in a Region III match, posting a 3-2 win on the strength of two goals by Fianna Condon.
The Homer boys were not as fortunate, falling to the Warriors by a 4-0 score.
Condon netted the first goal of the match, unassisted, at 24:58, and Chantrelle Cousins gave the Mariners a 2-0 lead with four minutes left in the match, assisted by Nikki Fry.
Wasilla tied the match on a pair of unassisted goals by Christie Hayes, the first coming in the final minute of the first half and the second 23 minutes into the second half.
Condon responds with the match winner for the Mariners with just under seven minutes to play.
The Wasilla boys scored three goals in the first half of their match at Homer and added one more at 2:39 of the second half to claim the win.
