Lifeguard sign-ups end Monday
The Soldotna High School swimming pool is holding sign-ups for a lifeguard training class. Classes will be held Mondays through Fridays beginning Monday. Participants must be at least 15 years of age. For more information, call 262-7419.
WRCC plans domestic violence workshop
The Kenai Women's Resources and Crisis Center will hold a community awareness workshop on domestic violence and sexual assault Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily. Topics will include domestic violence, sexual assault and effects of domestic violence on children. The public is welcome to attend. Continuing education credit is available. Work session about Kenai Rec Center slated
There will be a work session between members of the Kenai City Council, Kenai Parks and Recreation Commission and Boys and Girls Clubs of the Kenai Peninsula's board of directors at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the council chambers at Kenai City Hall, 210 Fidalgo Ave. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss a partnership between the groups to operate the Kenai Recreation Center. The public is welcome to attend.
University president to speak at chamber lunch
Mark Hamilton, president of the University of Alaska, will be the speaker at the Kenai Chamber of Commerce's noon luncheon Wednesday at Paradisos Restaurant. Hamilton will speak about university partnerships, programs, budgets and the future of the state. The cost for lunch is $10.50.
Winnie-The-Pooh' characters visit Kenai library
Toddler story time at the Kenai Community Library from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday will feature characters from the A.A. Milnes classic "Winnie-The-Pooh" play. The characters will present scenes from the upcoming play and will talk with children after the scenes.
League of Women Voters to meet
The League of Women Voters will hold its monthly meeting at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Vintage Moose on Kalifornsky Beach Road. There will be an update on legislation pertaining to league positions and a presentation of recommended changes in bylaws. The public is welcome to attend.
