NRA helped Women on Target become a success

Posted: Wednesday, May 04, 2011

We wish to express our deepest gratitude to the volunteers and organizations that made our first Women on Target event a success. Because of your efforts, the women who participated in the class are now more skilled in firearm safety and handling.

It was rewarding to see these women transform from being somewhat apprehensive to enjoying and appreciating shooting sports.

A special thank-you to the following organizations and their volunteers: the National Rifle Association, Women of the NRA; Friends of the NRA, Kenai Peninsula Chapter; Snowshoe Gun Club, for providing excellent instructors and use of the their firearms and range; Kenai Peninsula Safari Club International for providing lunch, shotguns and experienced volunteers; Spencie and Tom Netschert; Billie Hardy and Mike Crawford; Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game, Larry Lewis for providing bear training; Hunter Heritage Foundation for funding ammunition and supplies; and Wilderness Way, for the classroom facility.

A special thanks to our Fire Arm Instructors: Jay Sjogren, Steve Meyer, Stu Goldstien, Bobby Cox, Darrell Aleckson and Ted Spraker.
