Police chief to speak on professionalism

The Center for Mediation and Community Dialogue will sponsor a free seminar at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Kenai River Center, across from the Soldotna Airport.

Soldotna Police Chief Shirley Gifford will address professionalism in the workplace, communications and leadership. She has spoken on the subject to several groups within the city of Soldotna and for the Department of Public Safety. There will be refreshments, dialogue and a presentation designed to enhance professionalism and leadership skills. The public is invited.

SPCA offers assistance

The SPCA of the Kenai Peninsula offers free spay and neuter vouchers for pets and shots for domestic animals for $10 and livestock for $35. SPCA identification tags are also available for $5 for the first year of registration and $2 after that if the animal has received shots and been spayed or neutered. The SPCA will not take in animals, but can help with care items, such as food. For more information, call Michelle at 262-8800 or 262-8550 Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

DOT rep to speak at North Peninsula council

Rex Young of the Alaska Department of Transportation will speak at the next meeting of the North Peninsula Community Council, to be held Monday at 7 p.m. at the Nikiski Senior Center. Young will address the future of roads in the Nikiski area. For more information, call Patrick Heath at 776-8976.

Health group to meet

Healthy Communities-Healthy People Steering Committee will hold its regular meeting Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Bridges, located at 145 Kasilof Street in Soldotna. For more information, call 260-2663 or 260-3800.

Museum cleanup planned

The annual spring cleanup of the Soldotna Historical Museum will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. The public is welcome to attend the event. A brief meeting of the museum's board of directors will precede the event at 9 a.m. For more information, call 262-4157.

Marketing council offers host training

The Kenai Peninsula Tourism Marketing Council will offer the Alaska Host Customer Training Program for employees of organizations involved in service industries. This seminar will teach communication, customer service and visitor skills. Cost of the seminar is $15. The first seminar will be held May 13 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Aspen Hotel in Soldotna. Health centers meeting scheduled

The Central Peninsula Health Centers Inc. regular monthly meeting will be held May 15 at 5:30 p.m. at the Cottonwood Health Center, located at 170 E. Coral Street in Soldotna. For more information, call 260-2663.
