National forest motorized use updated
Turnagain Pass remains open to motorized use, while the rest of the Chugach National Forest began its seasonal closure Saturday.
Turnagain Pass from the main parking lot north will remain open as long as snow conditions allow. Weekly updates on motorized use are available at www.fs.fed.us/ r10/chugach.
Nikiski senior board to meet
The Nikiski Senior Service Board will meet at 4:30 p.m. today at the senior center. The public is invited to attend. For more information, call 776-7654.
Nikiski community clean up set
The Nikiski Community Council is holding its annual clean-up day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Registration for individual and team prizes, bag pickup and area assignments begin at 9 a.m. at the North Peninsula Recreation Area hockey rink.

Pottery guild to hold fund-raiser
The Kenai Pottery Guild will hold its annual Mother's Day pottery sale fund-raiser from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the guild. Proceeds will help to maintain the Potters Studio and produce the Clay Exhibit. For more information, call Cindy at 262-0903 or 262-3898.
Social Security reps to visit area
Social Security administration representatives will be on the Kenai Peninsula from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 18 at Seward City Hall; from noon to 4 p.m. May 19 at Kenai City Hall; and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 20 at the Homer Senior Citizens Center. NES plans pancake fund-raiser
Ninilchik Emergency Services will hold a pancake breakfast fund-raiser from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 29 and 30 at the Ninilchik Fair grounds.
