Area chambers set schedules

Sherry Smith, executive director for the Leeshore Center, will speak at noon today at the Nikiski Chamber of Commerce luncheon at Ohana's Family Restaurant.

Government contracting help available

A procurement technical assistance center counselor will visit the Kenai and Soldotna area May 17 to offer technical assistance for businesses in government contracting. To schedule a personal appointment, call Bunny Kishaba at 714-2331. Time slots are available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Leadership workshop to be held

The Homer Chamber of Commerce and South Peninsula Hospital are hosting a leadership and life-skill building workshop for individuals and businesses from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Kachemak Bay East Campus Auditorium in Homer. Motivational speaker Joe Tye will be the presenter. The cost of attendance is $22 for early registrants and $25 at the door. To register or for more information call (907) 235-7740.

KPTMC to hold regional tourism conference

The Kenai Peninsula Tourism Marketing Council is hosting a regional tourism conference called Branding the Kenai Peninsula from May 11 to 13 at Land's End Resort in Homer. Topics covered include branding the peninsula as a region, capitalizing on Anchorage conventions and bringing the international market to the peninsula. For more information call 262-5229.
