Welcome back, golfers. I'm so pleased to be able to share all the news and activities of the Kenai Golf Course with you again this year. The official opening day for the course is today, May 6! The nets are up on the driving range, carts are out (but not yet in use) and it looks like everything is ready to welcome you back. Both the front and back nine will open for walking only and with only one temporary green in place, as usual on No. 14. Given our current weather, this green should dry out quickly and be in use before we know it! Carts will not be allowed at this time to prevent damage to the fairways as things are still a bit damp.
Debbie and Gordon Griffin and the entire staff of the Kenai Golf Course are excited to welcome everyone back for another season of great golfing and good times.
The usual complement of league play will be held this year with Couples Night on Mondays, followed by Seniors on Tuesday morning. The Kenai Cup action will take place as usual on Wednesday evenings followed by the Ladies league play on Thursday at noon and Men's Night on Thursday evenings. There is a full schedule of tournaments this summer with the first of the year, the Dick & Shirley Morgan Kick-Off, on Saturday, May 30. Be sure to sign up early for this great event.
The first of the Ladies Clinics is scheduled for May 26-29 from 6 to 8 p.m. for a $50 fee. This clinic is suitable for both beginning golfers and experienced ones needing an early tune-up. Class size is limited so be sure to sign up early so as not to miss out on this opportunity. Junior Golf will start in early June, so stay tuned for upcoming details on this excellent program. All of this information is available with just a click of your mouse on the Web site, so don't forget to check it out at www.kenaigolfcourse.com. You can find everything you need to know about the course and it has been updated to include all the information for our current golfing season. Happy golfing surfing! As always, Gordon and Debbie can be reached at the KGC pro shop at 283-7500 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Better yet, stop by the pro shop.
I just realized our clubs are still in the crawl space and given the long hours my better half has been working on turnaround lately I will have to see if he has the energy to help me get them out this evening. So, wherever your clubs may have spent the winter, get them out, dust them off and get a grip on them! I guarantee it will get those golf juices flowing and you'll be heading for the Kenai Golf Course. See you on the driving range!
