Troopers investigate death of a man killed by gunshot

ANCHORAGE (AP) Alaska State Troopers were investigating the death of a 34-year-old Houston man who was killed by a gunshot.

John Paul Padie was killed early Monday and troopers said he might have been shot accidentally.

Troopers from the Big Lake post were called to Padie's home near Mile 58 of the Parks Highway. When they arrived at about 7 a.m., they found Padie dead of a gunshot wound.

Troopers were told Padie was killed accidentally.

The state medical examiner's office was expected to perform an autopsy Tuesday.
