The Hershey's Track and Field Meet is set for Friday at the Nikiski Middle-Senior High School track. Volunteers are needed.

IDEA T-shirts are available for sale. Sizes range from child's small to adult's XXXL. Colors are limited. Children's sizes are $7, and adult sizes are $10. For more information, call 260-7555.

The annual Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival will offer many fun-filled and family-oriented education and outdoor activities, all of which are organized around International Migration Bird Day on Saturday. This event, which celebrates the return of migrating birds to Alaska, is in its 11th year and is held annually in the Homer area and around Kachemak Bay. Sample copies of the shorebird curriculum for kindergarten through 12th grade is available at the IDEA office and field trips, including guided beach walks and boat tours, are available through the Homer chamber Web site under "field events."
