All books are due in the library by May 14. Eighth-graders with overdue books at the end of the school year will be placed on a list at Soldotna and Skyview high schools. Students on the list will not be able to check out books at the high schools until the books are returned and fines paid. Seventh-graders with overdue books will not be able to check out books at SMS next year until books are returned or paid for.
Mr. Whitney's fourth-hour drama class will perform "Springfield Talent Show: An Original One Act Play" during periods one through four and six and seven May 22.
Less than 60 yearbooks remain available for purchase. The cost is $25. Also, SMS will offer for the first time a video CD companion to the yearbook. The video CD will include pictures and some video accompanied by a wide range of music. The CDs will be sold for $6.
May 15 is the last day full lunches and a la carte items will be available. Remaining account balances will be carried over for the 2003-04 school year. Any parent wanting a cash refund will need to contact the Student Nutrition Services office at 262-9367.
SMS will prepare a complimentary hot dog picnic for all staff and students on the last day of school.
Soldotna Community Schools has several programs for teens this summer. For more information on the following programs, call Rosie Reeder at 262-6768.
The Teen Fine Art Institute will be offered from 10 am. to 5 p.m. June 14 and from 1 to 6 p.m. June 15 at Kenai Peninsula College. The cost is $60 by May 16 or $75 after that.
Environmental Camp will be offered from noon to 5:30 p.m. July 28 to Aug. 15. The location will be announced at a later date. The cost is $250 before May 31, and $375 after that.
Sixth-grade parent night will be at 7 p.m. Thursday in the large gym.
The PTA will meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Parents of current sixth-graders are invited to attend the meeting.
