Central Peninsula Crime Stoppers is seeking information about a rifle reportedly seen in Kenai Lake.

Possibly a 4570 lever action rifle stolen in Seward in July 2003, the rifle was seen in the lake April 27 and when Alaska State Troopers went to recover it the next day, it was gone.

Anyone with information about who discarded the rifle or who recovered it is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 283-TIPS or toll free (800) 478-HALT. Theft of a firearm is a felony.

Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information that leads to the arrest of felony suspects. Crime Stoppers does not use caller ID or recorded lines, and callers need not give their names.
