Even though Old Man Winter is reluctant to leave the Kenai Peninsula this year, people wanting to play outside flocked to the annual Sports, Rec, and Trade Show at the Soldotna Sports Center last week.
"The vendors had their best year ever, they did really great," said Stacie Coval one of the shows organizers.
Of the 12 prize bearing tagged trout in the new fishing pond sponsored by ACS Wireless, 7 were caught.
The winner of the grand prize, a halibut charter for two, went to Connor Hammon of Nikiski, and Alison Sawyer of Kenai won the fly-in fish trip. Other popular events at the show included seminars on cooking wild game, safe boating, and bear baiting.
Over 6,000 turn out for annual Sports show in Soldotna.
There were rides available in horse-drawn carriage, and a dart simulator that amazed the people that gave it a try. The show was sponsored by local businesses spearheaded by Seekins Ford of Soldotna.
