ANCHORAGE (AP) Disaster recovery centers opened in Palmer and Anchorage Wednesday for people affected during the March windstorms in parts of Southcentral Alaska.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency and Alaska Division of Emergency Services opened the centers to provide information and answer questions about assistance available to residents of Anchorage and the valley.
Both areas and the Kenai Peninsula were designated federal disaster areas after the storm.
Government programs available to disaster victims include housing assistance, low-interest loans, grants and technical advice.
