Former Soldotna resident Daniel Kenneth Dunbar died Sunday, May 4, 2003, at the Muskogee Regional Medical Center in Oklahoma. He was 40.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Canadian United Methodist Church. The Revs. Larry Jones and Golda McClelland will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery of McAlester.
Mr. Dunbar was born June 27, 1962, in Encino, Calif., to Elizabeth Ann (Dunbar) Reed and Howard Kenneth Dunbar. He lived in five different states, including California, Alaska, Washington, Missouri and Oklahoma. He graduated with honors from Soldotna High School. He worked at Century 21 in the mail room at Costa Mesa, Calif., and at a medical insurance office in Tustin, Calif. He attended the Missionary Baptist Church in Eufaula, Okla., and the Canadian United Methodist Church.
"Danny had a love of life and a love for life and loved Jesus at an early age. Danny made countless friends wherever he lived," his family said.
His is survived by his mother, Elizabeth, and stepfather, Bob, of Canada; his father, Howard; brother and sister-in-law, Donald K. and Tami Dunbar of Kenai; brother, David K. Dunbar of Reno, Nev.; sisters Vickie Edelman of Soldotna and Susan Overton of Tampa, Fla.; nieces and nephews, Tony Dunbar and his wife Brittany, Tara, of Kenai, and Ashlyn, Drasanna and Christopher Edelman of Soldotna; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian United Methodist Church Youth Van.
