Nutrition classes available

The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank offers free nutrition classes “Your Body Works On What You Eat” for eight weeks Wednesdays through June 20 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the food bank at 33955 Community College Drive in Soldotna. The classes are taught by Colleen Sonnevil of the Cooperative Extension Service. For more information, call 262-3111.

PFLAG to meet

Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday. For more information and the meeting location, call 283-4678.

Refuge to spruce up

The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge will host its annual Spring Cleanup/Greenup Day at 8 a.m. Friday. Volunteers are asked to meet at the visitors center at Skill Hill Road. For more information, call 262-7021.

Dinner, auction fundraiser set

College Heights Baptist Church will hold a soup supper and Chinese auction fundraiser from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the church at 44440 Kalifornsky Beach Road. A pie auction also is planned.

Proceeds will benefit Jacob Eckerman, 12, who is awaiting a liver transplant.

Donations of Crock Pots of soup, desserts, pies and auction items are needed. Monetary donations may be dropped off at Alaska USA Federal Credit Union in his name. Auction items may be dropped off Thursday at the church.

One man’s trash...

The Soldotna Senior Citizens Center will hold a “trash, treasure and bake sale” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 19 at the center.

Vendor tables are available for $10 a table.

A free breastfeeding class will held at 11 a.m. May 19 at Special Delivery Maternity on Kalifornsky Beach Road. Tamara Miller, international board certified lactation consultant, will instruct. For more information or to register, call 398-6667.
