Friday, the Kenai Golf Course tournament season started with the annual Dick Morgan Kick-Off Scramble, which was put together by the Kenai Golf Course and the Kenai Golf Association. The team of Doug Jung, Richard Martin, Dana Bassel and Doug Haralson solved the strong winds the best to win with a score of 4-under. Second place, at 3-under, went to Gordon Griffin, Eldon Harvey, Barb Westermeyer and Bob Drewes.
Four teams tied at 2-under, so a chip-off on the 10th hole was used to determine third place. The team of Don Moock, Zach Beeson and Cliff Vaught won the chip-off. Bob Drewes won closest to the pin on No. 10 and Jim Bradford won closest to the pin on No. 14. On No. 16, Richard Martin had the closest to the line drive. Keith Stuart won a season pass in the Kenai Golf Association early bird membership drive drawing.
The next Kenai Golf Association member tournament will be a handicapped individual event on June 17.
