KODIAK (AP) -- Two Kodiak men were arrested on drug charges after federal officials intercepted a package sent from the Philippines containing suspected methamphetamine.
Elwyn A. Pedraza, 27, was charged with selling methamphetamine. Mauro Paldeng, 20, was charged with possession. Kodiak police said Paldeng was in the process Monday of buying the drug from Pedraza when the two were arrested.
Police seized four grams of methamphetamine, seven guns and $600.
Pedraza also was charged with tampering with physical evidence because they said he destroyed 16 grams of the drug when he realized the package had been opened, said Kodiak police Sgt. Kyle Valerio.
Valerio said U.S. Customs officials in Anchorage intercepted the package and then allowed the delivery so the two would be arrested.
The men were being held at the city jail and were to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon.
