KPC hosts exhibit featuring watercolors

Posted: Thursday, May 09, 2002

A garden of ethereal, watercolored flowers has sprouted up in the Kenai Peninsula College Art Gallery.

On display is the bachelor of arts exhibit of Sarah Glaves. The floral watercolor and colored pencil paintings are somewhat homogeneous, but soothing in their thematic similarities of colors, sizes and subjects.

The paintings may all depict floral scenes, but each one has something different to offer. According to Glaves, the drawings are about living.

"It's really amazing what's in a flower, upon closer investigation," Glaves stated in a commentary about the exhibit. "There I find struggle, love, wonder, hope and am reminded in the silence that we're all on an incredible journey where the unknown is part of the stories that are surrealistic and yet so true and real."

The show will be on display until May 17. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.
