Are legislators really acting in Alaskans' interests all the time?

Posted: Friday, May 09, 2003

Did we send legislators to Juneau to represent us our thoughts and opinions?

The House has just passed "a strategic law against public participation," commonly called "SLAPP" measure. Investigate the 24-hour rule. House Bill 191 would take away most communities' ability to guide development around them and to safeguard coastal resources.

The governor wants the Alaska Coastal Management Program dismantled. It's payback time for the timber industry with Senate Bill 149. Find out what is happening down there to such things as riparian buffers for our salmon.

Is Juneau producing what is really best for Alaska all the time?
