Soroptimist to hold recognition program

Indoor garage sale fund-raiser slated

Kalifornsky Beach Elementary School's Reflections and artist-in-residence programs, as well as school newspaper The Caribou Gazette, will hold an indoor garage sale fund-raiser from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the gymnasium. Donations are being accepted and tables are available to rent for $10. Vendors are welcome. Developmental screenings offered

Frontier Community Services will offer free developmental screenings for children ages birth to 3 years from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at its office in the Red Diamond Center. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call Renie at 262-3144

New program being offered for teens

The Boys and Girls Club in Kenai is offering all 13 year olds the option of either attending the Kenai clubhouse or the teen program at the Kenai Recreation Center.

Elementary closing ceremonies slated

The Nikiski Elementary closing ceremony will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the school. Memorabilia, a barbecue, refreshments, entertainment and special speakers are some of the planned activities. The public is encouraged to attend. For more information, call Mark Norgren at 776-8533.

Help available for home daycare providers

Family daycare providers in the central Kenai Peninsula area could be eligible to be reimbursed for part of the cost of food served. For more information, call the Child Care Food Program at 283-4707.

Introduction to rowing set for Homer

The Kenai Crewsers Rowing Club will hold an introduction to rowing from 6 to 8 p.m. May 21 at the home of Jim and Karen Hurd in Homer. For more information, call Karen at 235-8606.

Kenai Performers to hold theater camp

The Kenai Performers are taking registration for a summer theater camp. Session one, for children in grades one through six, will run June 28 through July 16. Session two, for children in grades six through 12, will run from July 19 to Aug. 13.

Up to four classes a day are available to campers, with a minimum of two classes required for participation in the musical. Auditions for the musical will be held in the first week of camp. Camp instructors will be area actors and three college theater graduates. The musical will be directed by Carol Ford.
