Readers will have noticed changes this week to two of the Clarion's section covers.
Thursday's "Pulse" section has been renamed "Arts & Entertainment." Our Friday "Outdoors" section is now called "Recreation."
"Pulse" had a good run, but it's simply time for a change. Tastes change fast in the art world and what looked hip and trendy a few years ago now looks more like, well, a ransom note.
Rather than attempt to come up with something just as trendy or new, we thought this time we'll stick with basics -- no fancy fonts or energetic graphics. Rather than a hip, new title, we'll let the content take center stage and draw your attention.
"Outdoors" also was good for its time. But refocusing on "Recreation" allows us to examine so much more of what people do with their leisure time besides hiking, fishing, boating, bird watching; hunting and snowmachining. Especially in the winter months, recreation can also be activities such as cribbage tournaments, body building, pool tournaments, quilting clubs, swimming, fly tying, square or contra dancing, etc.
Let us know what you think about the changes. And let us know your ideas for arts and entertainment and recreation stories. Remember, if it's something you do for fun, a story about it just may find a home here.
