Joshua James Moore died Monday, May 5, 2003, due to premature lungs at the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage. He was 6 days old.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Nikiski. Pastor Ray Boutwell will officiate. Burial will follow the services at Kenai City Cemetery.
Joshua was born April 29, 2003, at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage. He spent his short life in the NICU there.
"Little Joshua was born 15 weeks early. He fought for almost a week, but his lungs weren't strong enough. We would love to express our most sincere feelings and love for the NICU and all the staff at the Providence Hospital for what they did for our son and family. We spent six days with him. For he is now with Jesus," his family said.
Joshua is preceded in death by his grandfather, Cliff Moore, and uncles, George Moore and V.J. Sylvester.
He is survived by his parents, Travis and Samantha Moore of Nikiski; sisters, Katelyn and Tayalur Moore of Nikiski; grandmother, Delma Moore of Kenai; grandparents, Lynn and Bonnie Feik of Kenai; grandmother, Marvi Franz of Soldotna; and great-grandparents, Richard and Norma Thornton of Nikiski.
