KCHS to hold 'Pops' concert

The Kenai Central High School choir will hold its 33rd annual "Pops" concert at 6:30 p.m. today at the Renee C. Henderson Auditorium at KCHS.

The concert will feature musical selections from ABBA, a medley from "West Side Story," "Stand By Me," "Unchained Melody," "You Raise Me Up," tons of "pops" oldies and some new selections.

The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens.

Soroptimist to hold recognition program

The Soroptimist International of the Kenai Peninsula will hold its Making a Difference for Women Recognition Program at 6 p.m. Thursday at Charlotte's Restaurant in Kenai.

Veteran's appreciation dinner set

Cook Inlet Academy's National Honor Society and Skyview High School's social studies department will host their fifth annual veterans' appreciation dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Soldotna Sports Center.

Veterans and their families are invited to attend this free dinner.

Social Security reps to visit area

Social Security Administration representatives will be on the Kenai Peninsula from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 18 at Seward City Hall; from noon to 4 p.m. May 19 at Kenai City Hall; and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 20 at the Homer Senior Citizens Center.

Cruise fund-raiser slated

Cook Inlet Keeper will hold Cruise for Clean Water, a benefit dinner and auction from 6 to 10 p.m. May 22 at Otter Cove Resort and Rookery Restaurant. The event includes a boat tour across Kachemak Bay, gourmet dinner, live music by Eddie Wood and a short auction by Gary Thomas. All proceeds benefit Cook Inlet Keeper's advocacy and monitoring programs.
