Contra dance, auction scheduled
The last contra dance of the season will be held Saturday at Sterling Elementary School. Desserts, as well as other items will be auctioned off and fries with toppings will be available to purchase.
The cost of admission is $5 for adults and children 16 and under, when accompanied by an adult, are free. Participants who bring a dessert to auction off will get in free. For more information and times, call Connie at 262-4944.
Yard sale fundraiser set
The Friendship Mission will hold a yard sale fundraiser from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Mile 14.7 of the Spur Highway. Proceeds will benefit the mission. For more information, call Wayne or Patti Floyd at 776-8143
Ancestor research help available
Totem Tracers Genealogical Society will have ancestor research help available from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday in the genealogy room at the Kenai Community Library.

Swim lessons available
The Kenai Central High School pool is taking registration for its summer swim lessons. Lessons will begin June 6. Lessons are offered six times a day and meet Tuesdays through Fridays for two weeks.
The cost is $32 per session. Private lessons are $10 for 30 minutes for one child or $15 for 30 minutes with two children. For more information or to register, call 283-7476.
Chore, respite services available
Frontier Community Services is currently accepting applicants for their Home and Community Based Grant Program. Families caring for people with Alzheimer’s disease, related dementia, or an adult with a physical disability may call the senior services department at Frontier Community Services at 714-6639 for qualifying information.
Kenai shorebird festival continues
A shorebird festival continues at 1:15 p.m. Saturday. Classroom discussions and field birding expeditions are planned. Todd Eskelin and Toby Burke from the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, Ken Tarbox and Ken Marlow will lead workshops. For more information, location or to register, call 260-5449.
Rowing classes set to stroke
The Alaska Midnight Sun Rowing Club will host learn to row classes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 3 and 4 at Mackey Lake. Participants are asked to bring a sack lunch, The club will provide a barbecue dinner after each class. The cost is $85 per class. Registration forms are available online at www.alaskarowing.org.
