Kenai Peninsula College's Kenai River Campus in Soldotna will be closed on May 12 for a staff development day, reopening on May 13.
The campuses summer hours will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through the summer.
The Friends of the Kenai Community Library are collecting books for its June book sale. Book, video, DVD and puzzle donations should be brought to the Kenai Fire Department next door to the library. Submissions are now being accepted for the Peeps Art and Photo Exhibit. The exhibit is held in conjunction with the Kenai Birding Festival next week. Youth that are 18 years old and younger may submit their bird-focusd artwork and photography. Entry forms are available at the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge headquarters on Ski Hill Road in Soldotna and online at www.kenaiwatershed.org and www.kenaibirdfest.org. Entries should be ready to display and are due May 14. They can be taken to the refuge headquarters of the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center in Kenai.
The Kenai Historical Society needs volunteers to train as cabin tour hosts at the Kenai Homesteader Cabin Park for several hours each week this summer. Opening is set for May 31, with orientation for new volunteers the week before. The Kenai Peninsula Woodturners Chapter will hold its May meeting May 14 at 1 p.m. at the Workforce Development Center/Kenai Central High School on Lawton Street, in Kenai.
