There may still be hope for state funding the Kenai Peninsula Borough's Homer Solid Waste Transfer Site.
House Speaker Mike Chenault, R-Nikiski, said the House is adding it to the Senate's capital budget, along with a few others.
"There are a number of projects from around the district," Chenault said.
Money for the Nikiski senior center and money for community centers in Funny River and Sterling are among the additions to the budget.
Chenault said about $8 million is being added in for the landfill conversion in Homer.
"That's the borough's number one priority that the Senate left out," he said.
The money for the borough's transfer site was not included in the Senate's version of the budget, much to the dismay to local officials.
Chenault said the House is adding its own projects to the Senate's budget and could have something passed by this weekend.
