Knik River search yields no sign of missing woman

ANCHORAGE (AP) Volunteers searched the Knik River for a missing 21-year-old woman but found no sign of her.

Organizer Randy Brooks said the search Sunday eliminates a large area where the 35 volunteers might have found clues to the whereabouts of Bethany Correira, who disappeared from her Anchorage apartment May 3.

On Saturday, 90 volunteers from Talkeetna combed the Seward Highway from Anchorage to Hope, looking for signs of Correira, who family and friends say would never disappear without telling someone.

Brooks said searchers would take a break Monday and Tuesday and assess the search effort.
