Area chambers set schedule

Chambers of commerce speakers for the upcoming week include:

Randy Ernst, deputy director of the Pacific Rim Institute of Safety and Management (PRISM), will speak at the Nikiski Chamber of Commerce meeting at noon today at North Kenai Baptist Church. For more information, call Judene Van Cleave at 776-5551.

Work site posters available

Information posters required by state and federal regulations to be displayed at work sites are available free of charge from the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Four state and seven federal employment-related posters are available.

The posters also may be purchased from commercial sources.

Older worker nominations sought

The Alaska Commission on Aging is seeking nominations for the Experience Works Prime Time Awards Program, which honors outstanding older workers from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

Businesses and individuals may nominate Alaska residents age 65 or older who are employed and working at least 20 hours each week. The honoree must be willing to travel to Washington, D.C., from Oct. 5 to 9 for award events. Individuals who take part in a subsidized employment program funded by the local, state or national government are not eligible.

Exposition offers business workshops

The fifth annual Kenai Peninsula Small Business Expo will offer free workshops from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Kenai Peninsula College. The workshops will cover topics from how to start a business on a shoestring budget to effective ways to relieve stress. Lunch will be provided.

The exposition is sponsored by the Kenai Peninsula Small Business Development Center, Kenai Peninsula Borough Community and Economic Development Division and Kenai Peninsula College.

Insurance agents honored

Country Insurance and Financial Services recently awarded agents Joe Perletti of Kasilof and Rocky Waterbury of Soldotna positions on the company's All-American team.

The agents were among a group of more than 460 Country agents and agency managers who qualified for the All-American award out of nearly 2,000 agents and agency managers in 14 states.

All-American is awarded each year to agents and agency managers who have excelled in identifying insurance products and financial solutions that fit the needs of their clients.

Perletti and Waterbury have each been named an All-American twice.
