Literacy volunteers helping to make community better place

Posted: Thursday, May 13, 2004

This week Kenai Peninsula College Learning Center is celebrating the extraordinary contribution that our literacy volunteers make to our community.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank them for all their hard work and dedication to literacy. Because of them, children through adults are increasing their skills in all areas of literacy.

Although the world at large readily recognizes heroes of the moment like firefighters and paramedics, often those who work day in and day out to help their fellow humans go unrecognized. The Learning Center wishes to acknowledge and recognize the value of their commitment to literacy. Not only do they help those individuals who are working to improve their basic skills, they also are helping families, our local community and our nation.

When you see these individuals around our community, please offer them a hearty thank you for their incredible efforts: Norm Macleod, Kathryn Macleod, Jonni Frank, Dee Benner, Charlotte Rosin, John McCarthy, Estelle Parks, Janet Brookman, Sandra Bell, Edna Jones, Pam Musgrove, Ann Marina, Connie Goltz, Herman Stenga and Jacquline Erion.
